Fitting your Hipseat

Which side are you?

Most people are naturally left-hipped, or right-hipped. Interestingly, this DOES NOT correspond with being left or right handed! Checking is as easy as lifting your child up and checking what hip feels most natural to use.

Why? Our key-clip and purse are sewn to different sides on left-hipped or right-hipped HipSeats. If someone that naturally uses a different hip wants to use your hipseat it doesn't matter - just get them to spin it around. The most important thing is the purse and key-clip are on the correct side for YOU if you use it most.

Sizes

There is a large range of adjustment in each HipSeat so it will fit partners (& everybody else who helps out with your child) of different sizes. If it is wrong we will change it for you. There is some overlap between our two sizes.

size 1 - the smaller one.
It will fit most people up to about sz16 for women and 40in for men

size 2 - the larger size.
Get this size if you, the wearer or your partner is near the upper limit for size 1. It goes down to about sz14/36in if necessary, but is more comfortable if you're bigger.

 

How to wear your Hipseat

Everybody wears HipSeat slightly differently so make sure you muck around with it over the first few days to get it really comfortable. The position that seems to work best for most people is to have it slightly rotated toward the front so your seated child is in a "northwest" or "northeast" position and does not force your arm too far backward.

The most important thing is too make sure you start by putting it on high and tight around your waist and adjust it from there. See below.

How to put it on

1. Suck in your stomach and draw the belt snugly around your waist and secure it with the velcro. It is very important to secure it tightly to make the most of the weight bearing properties and keep it easy on yourself.

Guys - because you don't have child-bearing hips, initally place it on a little higher and make extra sure it is on snug for the best fit. You should encounter some resistance when you slide your hand in between your stomach and the belt

2. Secure the belt by clipping the buckle up and pulling the extra webbing until the belt draws tight. Do not overtighten the webbing - it is there for safety and a small amount of additional support - the velcro is designed to take the bulk of the weight.

3. The HipSeat is recommended for children over six months old. Before this age your childs bones are still forming and you risk damage. If you must use it, sit your child facing outward away from you. Under no circumstances have your child sitting facing you until the child is at least 6 months old. If you are unsure, seek your doctors advice.

4. Lift your child onto the seat with a leg to either side. Keep one arm around your child at all times.

Credit Card Safeguard

Is it safe to use my credit card over the Internet?

Yes. We use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect the security of your credit card information as it is transmitted to us. SSL is the gold standard in Internet encryption technology, which is a fancy way of saying that it's a highly sophisticated method of scrambling data as it travels from your computer to our website's servers.

How can I check to make sure my connection is secure?

You can check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address will change from "http" to "https". You can also double-check Look at the lower left-hand corner of your browser window after accessing the server. If you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending on your browser), then SSL is active and the server is secure.

What if I can't access the secure server?

Some versions of browsers and some firewalls don't permit communication through secure servers. While it is unlikely that this will be the case, it is safest that you are not able to place an order through an insecure connection. If your browser won't let you order, or access the secure server for any reason, please contact us to place your order by phone at 0800 Hipseat, or head to a Hipseat outlet near you.

Checkout

How do I place an order?

Click "buy now" to place your order. During checkout, you will be asked to provide:
· Your e-mail address and password for security purposes
· Your credit card billing address.
· Your address to send to
· Your preferred shipping method (post or courier)
· Your credit card type, number and expiration date.

Can I change my order during checkout?

Yes. The "final review" page lists your order information and gives you a last chance to make any changes. Your order will not be placed and your credit card will not be charged if you do not click "submit order."

How can I be sure my order has been received?

When you enter your credit card information and click "submit order" on the final review page, we'll give you an order confirmation number. You will also receive an e-mail confirming that your order has been received within approximately 24 hours. We will send you another e-mail to notify you when your order has been shipped and that we've charged your credit card.

Are there other ways to place my order?

Yes, if you prefer not to order online or need special delivery arrangements, you may download an order form and call us with your information at 0800 hipseat. You can also fax your completed order form to us at 0800 hipseat. Hipseat is also available at most good baby stores.

Payment

What forms of payment does Hipseat Online accept?

Hipseat.com accepts the following forms of payment:
· Visa
· MasterCard

What if I don't have any of those?

Don't worry. You can place an order using a cheque or by direct bank deposit. Please email or phone us on these numbers. Please do not send cash.

When will my credit card account be charged?

Your credit card will not be charged until your order is shipped.

Does Hipseat ship to international addresses?

Yes, no problem at all for most countries. We will advise you by email if it is not possible to deliver to your country.

Order Status and Tracking

How do I know if my order has been sent?

You will receive two e-mails after you have placed your order and provided us with a valid e-mail address:

· The first confirms that your order has been received (your order confirmation number will be included); this e-mail should arrive within approximately 24 hours.

· The second confirms that your order has been sent; this e-mail should arrive within approximately 24 hours following authorization of your credit card and verification of your information.

Returns and Exchanges

What is Hipseats return and exchange policy?

We want you to love what you ordered. But if something isn't right, let us know. If you are not satisfied with your HipSeat please return it within 30 days for your money back.

We also gladly accept returns of unused or defective HipSeats. In the unlikely event of a manufacturing defect, please contact us to arrange an exchange, credit or to have your HipSeat repaired. We will accept your return (for refund, credit, repair or exchange) within one year of purchase.

Please address your return shipment to our office. Pack the merchandise in a box with your original invoice or store receipt, then send the box back to us via insured mail to our address. We will notify you by email when we receive your return for inspection and processing.

Things to keep in mind...

Online purchases cannot be returned to any baby goods Retail Stores.
· Please note that all credit card refunds will be placed on the card used for the original purchase.
· Please allow 3 weeks from the day you return your package for your account to be credited.
· Allow 1-2 credit card cycles for the credit to appear on your statement.
